NAY TRUST THE PERSON THAT HAST BROKEN THY CHALICE
THOUGH APOLOGETIC LIPS MAY SOUND SWEET, THE TASTE UPON THINE LIPS IS AS BITTER AS SALT TO THE WOUND.

It is difficult to not note the connections to Eucharist and the Last Supper. The human factors and frailties that define each of us render *trust* into a fragile concept. Inevitably we all *fail* our friends and loved ones in some (hopefully minor and innocuous) way.

How that breach is received and understood determines the severity and permanence of the wound. Regrettably, this adjudication is often an irrational process with irrational outcomes.

Ever the optimist, I abide by Hemingway's observation: "The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places."

Chalices are not fragile , with the exceptions of those made of clay.

If you have clay-trust with someone.... then you should not be spending your time with that person.

If you said are not easily broken I would agree and there is a difference between something being shattered and broken. The idea is more about what the chalice represents than any literal idea.

Oh nonsense...you're 51 yo , and you have a bad habit of choosing the wrong guy.... and now you're arguing over semantics broken is broken .... how many times do you glue the pieces together, before you throw it out??

Come on... grow up... it's about time you did.
