Any Ideas?

I have been trying to lose weight and nothing seems to be working.
I have small meals three times a day, stay away from high fat foods, drink water and not soda, have a glass of wine every other day and nothing is working.....

What is a good plan of attack? I want to lose 25 lbs. in the next year so I know it is attainable. I have been trying for the last month and I haven't lost an ounce. I am so frustrated and depressed about it .

I do walk 30 minutes a day. I'm not into running as I have bad knees.

Is this what hormones do to a girl?

Any suggestions or thoughts would certainly be appreciated.

Life may not be the party we hoped for. But while we're here we might as well DANCE!
Yesterday's a memory, tomorrow's a dream . . .Enjoy today!
Hugs, Erika!

First...those are all great changes in your lifestyle. Don't give any of them up.

I know it seems odd but in order to lose weight you have to eat. If you do not take in enough calories your body goes into starvation mode and actually stores some of what you do eat. So be sure you are taking in an appropriate amount of calories in a day.

The other issue is fluid. Drinking enough liquid allows your system to flush excesses out. One of the calculations I've read about is drinking 1 oz for each lb up to 1/2 of your body weight. It's a lot of water and be prepared to be getting extra excersize walking to the bathroom more!!

Another thought is that muscle burns more energy than fat. If you add some weight strengthening to your walking you will be building muscles. this means you will burn more calories even when not moving. This does not have to be a gym membership. The simple act of laying flat on the floor from a standing position and then getting back up will use muscles you might have forgotten you had.

Muscle weighs more than fat. Let the way your clothes fit be more of an indicator of weight loss than the scale. We didn't gain extra weight overnight so be kind to yourself and do not expect to lose it overnight.

Thank you for the helpful tips girl friend. I guess I have to walk more. Do you think 25 lbs in a year is too much?

I don't know if this will work for you, but I cut out a lot of carbs and sugar (you're already doing that) and bike ride quite a bit and I've lost 15 pounds since the winter.

Carbs are EVERYWHERE! You might want to get into the habit of checking labels for carbs and then you can get some control over how much you take in.

Good luck on your quest and don't get discouraged. And just between you and me, I think you look marvelous just the way you are!

Thank you hon, carbs are my friend and enemy, what's a girl to do. More exercise yes.
Thank you I could look better if I did lose a few more lbs.
Hugs, Erika

The formula is simple Erika, do more, eat less. Implementation is a bitch though! Maybe do something else, in addition to your 30 minute daily walks. Most health specialists and dietitians will recommend 4-6 very small meals a day. Sounds like the rest of the things you are doing are all in alignment with other practices for weight management. Keep at it!
