Do you think I could damage the foot by continuing the walks? Yes, go see a podiatrist When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I can think of a few things you can do to keep your heart rate up, burning calories and getting sweaty. Let your feet rest. Lay down and enjoy........

Day 77. Did you wear your shoes out? Seriously. Check them out. Take a week off.

first, if want to continue your walks to be consistent, CONGRATS ON THAT btw, try a shorter distance and see how you feel. a doctor will tell you to take an otc (over-the-counter) pain reliever. second, soak your feet in epsom salt and elevate them. third, try a cream analgesic like a ben-gay. a little medicinal but it does work and works fast. or rub the feets with alcohol. finally, if you just feel like it's worsened, then go to the doc as a last resort, if the doc is far away.

Sounds like a stress fracture. Your left foot is starting to hurt because it’s compensating for your right and your putting more weight on it than normal. Of course i don’t know what type of shoe you wear but don’t cheap out on your shoes. Get a good walking or running shoe. Back off your walking because your only gonna make it worse and if the pain doesn’t subside you might need X-rays. I’ve had the problem your having now and it’s common for this to happen when first starting out. I hope you get better and good luck and I hope this helped

I blew out my knee pushing things last year. I would take it easy on your foot. Let it heal and then get back to it. Maybe check with your doctor?

I second the shoe recommendation. If you do go to a doctor, take your shoes along with you so the doctor can evaluate the shoe fit and integrity. You do not say how fast you are walking. !.7 km at a medium pace would be about 20 minutes, or 5.1 km per hour. A faster pace of 15 minutes would be 6.8 km per hour. At 6' tall with a 34" inseam, I typically walk at the 6.8 km per hour. If you go at that pace for 5 km, my hips will hurt as I have a back induced weakness in my left leg. Are you trying to eat healthy as well? Several books that I have read say that you cannot out exercise a bad diet.

I'm thinking you should do something else that still gives you a good work out. Once you heal up and condition up then return to walking long distances. I would also like to be a considered as candidate for the position of sexercize partner suggested in prior replies.

Don't worry about bothering the doctor - that's what they're there for. You definitely should see the doctor.... there are all sorts of things that can go wrong in feet. Worth checking it out, if for nothing more than peace of mind.
