A Daunting Task

Today I started the daunting task of house hunting. Trying to find something that is in my price range and doesn't look like tear down in Detroit is a lot harder than you think. Some people have a very inflated idea of what their home is really worth.

When I think of "move in ready", I think of a house that doesn't slant to one side. The house I saw today was half of a duplex. As soon as I walked In I noticed that the entire house slanted to one side. Somebody put laminate flooring in and wondering why they bothered. The whole floor job looks like what an owner does when they are renting a property. Everything is half-assed so that the renter will think these things are actual upgrades. I won't be making an offer on this house simply because I don't want to live in a cockeyed house.

If the house didn't slant to one side I might have offered them half of what they are asking because everything needed to be redone. And I mean everything.

Well, there are a couple more houses to see. Still need my pre-approval for a mortgage. Thankfully the Federal Govt is going back to work. Maybe I can get a house before they shut down again. Looks like gearing toward a USDA Loan.

Have you tried Zillow?

Using more than all the road!

Zillow and Trulia have the same properties on them for my area. And yes, I've tried both. I'm just very limited as to what I can afford and my area is not known for updating properties. Most homes in my price range still have a 1940s bathroom and kitchen in them and some still have dirt floors in the basement.
